    Descriptive info: Swipe type fingerprint sensor.. sensor is a capacitive swipe-type fingerprint sensor which means that the user has to swipe his/her finger across the sensor surface to acquire a fingerprint image.. The principle of the capacitive swipe sensor is that during the swipe of the finger an electrical signal is imposed on the finger by the drive electrodes, creating a capacitive coupling between the finger and the sensor.. Capacitive sensor principle.. During movement of the finger the electrical field will change dependent on the distance between the sensor surface and the finger, i.. e.. the ridges and valleys  ...   utilized by the sensor to determine if it’s a ridge or a valley passing the sensor line (see figure below).. The drive signal is a sinusoid with a frequency in the range of 60-80 kHz.. The IDEX SmartFinger Film sensor has a single line of sensor elements which reduces the complexity, size and resources required, as opposite to a multiple lines sensor..
